I am very blessed and fortunate to be able to share the Turkish Angora breed with others on my life’s journey. I love sharing this amazing breed with other loving, responsible pet parents. I work with a small, ethical Turkish Angora breed preservationist community that has the same practices of husbandry, belief in health testing and optimal care that I do. My kittens are raised with abundant amounts of love, a plethora of toys, natural nutrition and are from health tested parents. I strive to raise each kitten with as much affection, enrichment and healthy nourishment as possible so that you have an happy, well adjusted and healthy family member. My cats and kittens live inside my home as beloved pets, are not caged nor in a seperate outdoor facility.
LETS GET SCIENCE-Y
I am a low-risk cattery as stated by the AAHA and as such, my vaccination protocol reflects that. I am a small cattery that has great husbandry, amazing attentive mom-cats and I have never had infectious illness in my group. As such, my vaccination protocol is beneficial for my kittens and cats well-being first and foremost. I start vaccinations at ~10-12 weeks of age, ending at around ~16-20 weeks of age, following the most current veterinary recommendations based on the presence of MDA (Maternally Derived Antibodies) in kittens (2020 Journal of Feline Medicine/Surgery). I have one litter at a time to assure they are well cared for and receive lots of nurturing and attention. I sincerely appreciate your support of this rare ancient cat breed.
I really love my cats and every kitten born in my home. All of them are treasured. Therefore, I do not alter cost based on coat color, eye color or show “type”. All are valuable in my sight. Adoption cost is by no means an accurate or true reflection of the actual investment of time, love, health testing, showing, high quality nutrition and veterinary care of each beloved Turkish angora sharing its life with me. My program is a calling to preserve these magnificent creatures.
If you are interested in cat shows, I would love to help you on your journey! CFA cat shows are filled with wonderful cat friends and it is a wonderful hobby to participate in. CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) is a respected, long-established and professional organization! If you are interested in showing in premiership (spay/neuter) class, please let me know so we can work together for the best match.
Each Chateaumane Turkish Angora pet kitten:
has at least three (if not more) well-kitten check-ups with a licensed veterinarian, which includes a physical exam, de-worming and pertinent core vaccinations PRIOR to placement (three Purevax FVRCP vaccines + one Purevax rabies vaccine). This results in a kitten that is 16 weeks (or older) and fully protected so you can focus on the important aspects of pet companionship - acclimation to a new environment, bonding and love.
is born from parents that have been tested clear of HCM via echocardiogram as well as DNA tested for known genetic health issues. I value genetic diversity, the health of this breed and low COI (coefficient of inbreeding) in the Turkish Angora population. Litters born at Chateaumane have all been under 5% COI (8 generation calculation).
is micro-chipped and comes with pre-paid CFA registration.
comes with 30 days complimentary Trupanion pet insurance (activated by the new pet parent within 24 hours).
is from parents that have been screened, by echocardiogram, clear for HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy).
is from Feline Leukemia, FIV and Heartworm tested negative parents.
kittens come with a 5 year health guarantee against genetic health defects.
a signed written contract.
is spayed/neutered prior to placement. I have never had adverse results from early spay/neuter. Kittens recover fairly quickly from surgery. Read more about the benefits of Early Spay/Neuter.
kittens are fed a high-quality diet and receive regular quality veterinary care.
are never shipped via cargo. I have met every single cat parent in person! I enjoy meeting their new families. Pet parents have flown to Grand Rapids, Chicago and Detroit to pick-up their Turkish angora to fly home in-cabin. Alternatively, I have driven to meet pet parents part-way to unite them with their new family member.
goes to approved indoor-only homes (cat-safe catio and/or cat-safe harness walking is okay) where they will NEVER be declawed/amputated (neither front or back or both).
is adopted to approved homes where they are given a lifetime of love, care and attention.
is adopted to non-smoking homes.
are ready to leave for their new homes at approximately ~16 weeks of age.
Also, you will receive:
CFA registration paperwork at the time of placement to authenticate that you are purchasing a purebred Turkish Angora.
the kitten's pedigree.
a written contract & all health documentation of the kitten and their parents.
a kitten “welcome home” pack. I provide some of their favorite canned food, treats, a blanket that smells like mom for comfort, toys, and a clicker for positive reinforcement training!
help and support from me for their entire life. I love staying in touch, receiving photographs and letters!
